The most awaited movie of the year Tiger Zinda Hai, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif might face trouble in its release.
It is produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, and is sequel to 2012 film Ek Tha Tiger.
The film is based on Indo-Pak backdrop, Katrina playing a Pakistani spy and Salman playing an Indian spy, both fighting the “common enemy”. Given the film’s subject and the current rift between the two countries, chances are the film may not see a smooth release.
According to a source close to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), there is an unofficial ban on all Indo-Pak relationships for now.
“The guidelines clearly don’t allow this kind of a cross-border merger,” the source told Deccan Chronicle. “If you remember, in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Anushka Sharma’s character Alizeh was from Pakistan. But after the surgical strikes and the escalated hostilities between the two countries, her nationality was quickly changed, and she became an Indian Muslim from Lucknow.”
The source also revealed that it is likely that the character played by Katrina, “Zoya” may go through a change to become acceptable for the release.
Only the release of the film will tell what twists and turns the story goes through.
For now it is scheduled to release on 22nd December.
