Salman Khan in recent years has proven himself to be a critic proof superstar. This can be seen from the fact that all his recent movies have easily crossed the 100 crore mark. In fact, some of them have done it multiple times.
It seems that the same will be true for his latest release, Tubelight. This film, which is based on the India-China was released over the Eid weekend as expected. Another thing that was expected was the fact that the movie has received negative reviews from most critics.
So much so, that even Salman wasn’t surprised by the reviews. “The critics were really good. I was expecting minus 3 and minus 4 but they gave 1, 1.5 apparently, so I am very pleased,” he said.
While most people would call this self loathing, to some it shows a level of confidence that not most people have these days. Over the weekend, we got to see the confidence rewarded, as thousands of Salman fans paid hard earned money to see the firm.
According to latest reports, the film has even crossed the halfway mark to 100 crores, with a solid 60+ crore weekend. If we talk specifics, the movie made Rs 20.75 crore on Friday, Rs 19.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 22.25 crore on Sunday.
We don’t yet know what the number will be for Monday, but they are expected to go up as it is Eid and Salman fans will definitely be thronging the theaters.
Tell us, did you get to see the movie yet? If yes, then what did you think of it?
