Looks like it’s becoming a trend Bollywood for an actor to step out of a project and the other one to step in.  According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Shraddha Kapoor has stepped out of the Saina Nehwal biopic and Parineeti Chopra has been roped in. After training for months for the role of ace badminton player, Shraddha will no longer be a part of the film.

In September 2018, Shraddha started shooting for the film but then she got diagnosed with Dengue and couldn’t work. The film was then supposed to go on floor in April but due to some dates issue, Shraddha wasn’t available and the decision to opt out of the film was mutual. Confirming the news, Bhushan told Mirror, “We want to wrap up Saina by this year-end for an early 2020 release, so going ahead with the project is a decision taken by mutual consent. We are glad Parineeti has come on board for the film. Saina has made every Indian proud and we can’t wait to take her story to the world in the year of the Olympics.”

“Despite everyone’s best efforts to accommodate the Saina biopic, dates were clashing, so it made sense for Shraddha to opt out. The decision was taken by mutual consent. Meanwhile, Parineeti loved the script and will start prep soon,” a source informed.

Parineeti Chopra, on the other hand, is excited to be a part of the sports film. “It’s a part of my personality, but as an actress, one that I have not explored so far. I’m delighted to get an opportunity to portray a strong and powerful girl like Saina who put our country on the world map. I am excited to put in all the training and hard work that comes with learning the game and portraying Saina on screen,” said the actress.

Parineeti is currently promoting his upcoming film Kesari with Akshay Kumar set to release on 21st March.
